Dress Well…Why Bother?
By Dawn Leo

8 years ago, when I was still in university, jeans and spaghetti were my school uniform. Nothing special, just that I didn't have to use up my brain cells, which was already not enough for my studies, to think about what to wear so that every guy in the faculty would turn their heads to look at me (when almost every female undergraduate was a jeans lover too!).

This continued to be my dressing sense till I met my boyfriend (whom I'm currently happily married to). He reminded me to dress well, not because jeans are boring or not sexy, but to dress well for different occasions. He reminded me that dressing well boasts self confidence, self esteem and improve self image. Only then beauty within you will evolve naturally, regardless of whether you have a perfect figure. People around you feel great being with you too. Well, I believe that he said this to me not because he was trying to prove man is superficial, but to boast my confidence when meeting people. I must say he is right about all this!

Let's admit it, people judge you by appearance on first meeting. Therefore, you should highlight your best assets of your figure such that they are perceived first as part of your whole chic look. For instance, if u have nice slender legs, don't hide it, be proud of it.

Less attractive assets should just be stylishly combined to create the whole chic look. Take just a simple example, if you do not have the height, wear high heels but choose a height that you are comfortable with. You won't want to lose interest and faith in making yourself looking good because of blisters or frequent slips over the shoes.

Attention should be focused on the whole look, not a particular part of you. You want people to know you as "she's gorgeous", not "the lady with big boobs" or "the one with bulging tummy".

The way you dress up tells people a lot about you, including your character, taste and personality. A well thought out and coordinated clothes suggest your taste and poise. Dressing well for an appointment shows that you respect the appointment and the person whom you are meeting. Who knows, you have made that person feels good about himself or herself and, most importantly, feels good about the meeting with you.

So much being said or written, are you determined to ensure that you look the best so that you feel good about yourself and feel confident walking out into the streets from this moment? Remember, make an effort to let your clothes say "I don't have to try to look good because I just do!"

Keep a look out on our next article, which will introduce different types of body shapes. Only by understanding your own body shape, then you can choose clothing that brings out the best assets of your body. So stay tuned...
